The FSB opened a case of sabotage after an explosion on the railway near Samara

The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case of sabotage after an explosion on the railway bridge over the Chapaevka River in the Samara region. This was announced on Monday, March 4, by the regional intelligence agency.

The department clarified that the case is being investigated under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of Russia “Sabotage”.

The explosive device on the bridge was defused, the railway line was declared suitable for further use, and train traffic was restored on it, the FSB Directorate for the Samara Region said.

Earlier, local resident Alla said that she woke up at about six o’clock in the morning from a loud bang, even the car alarm went off. According to the woman, it was very scary because it was unclear what happened. Only later did local residents find out that the bridge had been blown up.

Retired FSB Major General Alexander Mikhailov spoke about the vulnerability of the railway to enemy sabotage. According to the expert, in our country there are many objects that the enemy would like to explode and damagehowever, Russian railway workers and power engineers have backup options.
