Former Secretary of the Security Council of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Vitaly Balasanyan is already in Armenia. This was stated by NKR MP Metaxe Hakobyan.
The media reported about Balasanyan’s alleged detention at the end of September. Later, Balasanyan denied information about the arrest to the Tert.am portal. At that time, as reported, he was on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.
On September 28, the President of Nagorno-Karabakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, signed a decree on the termination of the existence of the republic from January 1, 2024. After this, the Azerbaijani authorities began to detain NKR officials.
Now we know about the detention of former NKR presidents Arkady Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan, as well as the ex-minister of state of the unrecognized republic, the former head of the Russian investment company Troika Dialogue, Ruben Vardanyan, who was charged with “financing terrorism.”
