Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov announced the appointment of the former head physician of the Belgorod Regional Clinical Hospital of St. Joasaph Zhanna Chefranova as a member of the Federation Council from the executive branch of the region. She will replace the retired 94-year-old last chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers, Nikolai Ryzhkov.
Mr. Gladkov expressed confidence that the new senator will be able to provide evidence-based protection of the interests of the region’s residents, and also noted her firmness in achieving her goals. He stressed that the priority areas for the authorities are the restoration of housing damaged by shelling and healthcare. “I am confident that we will continue to take an active part in the development of federal healthcare projects and receive the additional assistance that we need,” the governor said in his Telegram-channel.
Zhanna Chefranova is 55 years old. This year she won the by-elections to the Belgorod Regional Duma. Last week, Ms. Chefranova left the post of chief physician of the Belgorod Regional Clinical Hospital of St. Joasaph, which she held for ten years.
