The Russian side will take into account in its military planning the upcoming transfer to the UK of F-35 fighter jets, which are capable of carrying nuclear weapons, reported “RIA Novosti” Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Grushko.
Grushko called the planned transfer of American fighters “a line to increase military pressure on Russia.” He pointed to the “densification” of NATO exercises, increasing their scale and organizing a new series of exercises in the coming months. All this, according to the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry, “is part of the policy of containing Russia, therefore all necessary military-technical precautions will be taken.”
The decision to deploy F-35s will be taken into account in military planning and troop training, he added.
“That is, in everything that constitutes the activities of the armed forces, which must take into account changing circumstances, including the military situation and the deployment of additional military capabilities that may threaten us,” Grushko said.
In August The Telegraph reportedthat new US fighter jets capable of carrying nuclear weapons will be based in the UK as early as this year. According to the publication, two F-35 squadrons will soon arrive at Lakenheath airbase in Suffolk. According to sources, we are talking about the supply of 54 fighters that will replace the F-15 aircraft located at the airbase.
