The Foreign Ministry urged Lithuania to “behave like an adult” in the situation with transit to Kaliningrad

Russia urges Lithuania to stop engaging in various “notions” and stop obstructing Russian transit to Kaliningrad, Russian Charge d’Affaires in Lithuania Sergey Ryabokon said on the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

“We urged them then and now to behave like an adult, not to do what they are doing now, different notions,” quotes his TASS.

So the diplomat commented solution Lithuanian commercial “Siauliai Bank” on the termination of settlements in rubles.

Ryabokon believes that Vilnius is behind this decision, not the leadership of Siauliai Bank, which now does not understand how to behave. In this regard, the key role in preventing “these games” can be played by the European Union, “with which Lithuania stands with outstretched hand in order to receive another tranche for its Russophobia,” he added.

Starting today, Siauliai Bank, through which the payment for Kaliningrad transit passed, stopped accepting payments in rubles, and from September 1, any transactions with the Russian side in all currencies will be stopped. This was announced by the representative of the Association of Lithuanian Banks Valerija Kiguolene on the air of the radio station LRT.

In the government of the region after that reportedthat this decision will not affect rail freight transit to the Kaliningrad region, since the bills for its service were previously issued in foreign currency.

Earlier, the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, assumed that Lithuania would eventually stop passing transport, as a result of which transit to the region could stop on September 1. According to Alikhanov, the authorities of the region are now actively using maritime transport to solve problems with transit. At the beginning of the year, Kaliningrad had only two ferries at its disposal, now there are already eight such ships.
