The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the French ambassador and protested to him in connection with the statements of the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, regarding the assassination attempt on the head of the Russia House, Dmitry Sytoy. This is stated in message on the website of the Foreign Ministry.

“We drew the attention of the French ambassador to the unacceptability of the next accusations against Russia of spreading “propaganda” and “violence against the civilian population” of the CAR by some Russian private military structures. These comments sound especially inappropriate and cynical at a time when a Russian citizen, who was seriously injured as a result of a criminal action organized by unidentified persons, only miraculously survived and continues difficult treatment in the hospital, ”the message says.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on Paris to refrain from a “neo-colonial approach” to working with African partners and not to indicate “with whom they should be friends and cooperate,” as well as to stop whipping up “anti-Russian hysteria” and creating an atmosphere of hostility towards Russian representatives and specialists in the CAR.

The assassination attempt on Dmitry Syty was committed in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, on 16 December. The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the republic specified that the head of the Russia House received an anonymous package with explosives inside. She detonated in his hands. Satisfied was hospitalized. On December 19, it became known that Sytyi’s condition remained grave after the assassination attempt, and a decision was made to evacuate him to Russia.

Later, at the scene of the assassination, the CAR police found threatening note. “This is for you from all the French. The Russians will get out of Africa,” was printed in Russian on a narrow piece of paper. Later, the CAR police delayed seven people who may be involved in the terrorist attack. The Russian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the assassination attempt on Sytyi and expressed hope that those responsible for it would be identified.
