US attempts to exclude Russia from the G20 countries are doomed to failure, said Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko. Thus, he commented on the draft US defense budget.
“There is nothing new in this. We saw these attempts on the eve of the meeting in Bali – the attempts failed, and the majority of the world does not support these attempts. We are serious about everything that the United States is doing, but these attempts are doomed to failure, ”Grushko noted on the sidelines of the Primakov Readings (quote according to RIA Novosti).
According to him, the line of Western countries is now aimed at isolating Russia and it has already failed, as well as attempts to exclude Moscow from various multilateral formats.
US Congress earlier agreed the draft defense budget of the country for a record $858 billion. The project, in particular, extends for five years the ban on US cooperation with Russia in the military sphere and involves steps to exclude the Russian Federation from international organizations, including the G20. It also follows from the document that Washington intends to reduce its dependence on Russian energy supplies.
The G20 summit was held in Bali from 15 to 16 November. The Russian delegation was represented at the event by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Before the summit, representatives of Western countries repeatedly offered isolate the delegation from Russia at the event.
