The Foreign Ministry called the condition for the withdrawal of nuclear weapons from Belarus

Russia may withdraw tactical nuclear weapons (TNW) from the territory of Belarus after the US abandons the anti-Russian course. About it informed Head of the Second Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexei Polishchuk in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

“It will be possible to talk about the hypothetical withdrawal of Russian tactical nuclear weapons from the territory of Belarus only after the US and NATO abandon their destructive course, the withdrawal of American nuclear weapons from Europe and the elimination of infrastructure,” the agency reports.

Polishchuk noted that the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus was a forced decision in order to ensure the security of the Union State. According to him, this measure is a response to the “long-term destabilizing nuclear policy of NATO and Washington, as well as to the fundamental changes that have occurred recently in key areas of European security.”

On March 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that, at the request of Minsk, Russian tactical nuclear weapons (TNW) would be deployed in Belarus. He drew the analogy that the United States is also transferring weapons to its allies.

Defense Ministers of Russia and Belarus Sergei Shoigu and Viktor Khrenin signed documents in May that determine the procedure for keeping Russian tactical nuclear weapons in a special storage facility on the territory of Belarus. Shoigu explained the decision to send nuclear weapons to the neighboring republic by the activity of NATO nuclear missions, in particular in the European Union. On June 27, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced that most of the tactical nuclear weapons had already been delivered to the territory of the republic.
