The resumption of direct flights with Georgia is possible, Denis Gonchar, director of the fourth department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said in an interview with TASS.
According to him, for this it is necessary that “the necessary prerequisites are formed.” The diplomat noted that “visa liberalization” could also be carried out.
According to Gonchar, Georgia’s GDP forecast will grow significantly this year, largely due to the growth in income from inbound tourism, remittances and trade with Russia.
Earlier it was reported that the boom in consumption due to the influx of 100,000 Russians into the country after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine will lead to an increase in Georgia’s GDP by 10%. Reuters reported that this year Georgia should become one of the fastest growing economies in the world after an influx of more than 100,000 Russians. At the same time, Georgian economists and businessmen are concerned about the long-term negative consequences of the conflict in Ukraine and what might happen when the Russians return home.
Earlier, the Georgian authorities refused to open a “second front” against Russia and join the sanctions regime, which caused a complication of relations with Kiev.
