The consumer protection organization “Public Consumer Initiative” presented the first independent rating of Russian transport companies in the groupage cargo (LTL) segment. According to social activists, the rating will help increase the transparency of the segment and counteract unscrupulous transport companies.
The rating is based on the assessment of carriers according to two criteria: qualitative characteristics of activities (the first letter of the rating) and legal and financial risks (the second letter of the rating). The basis for the expert assessment was data from government information systems and publicly available sources. Experts assessed whether the carrier has its own fleet of vehicles, staffing levels, financial and legal risks, geography of work, tax risks and much more.
The final list included 30 transport companies operating in the LTL segment. The first place was taken by the Delovye Linii group of companies with an AA rating, which corresponds to a high level of quality and safety with no or minimal risks. The second place belongs to TC KIT (GTD), the company received a BA rating from experts. The third place was shared by two companies “Nord Villa” and PEC, their rating is AC. The full rating with a description of all parameters is published on the website OPI “Ratings and research in the field of logistics”.
According to the authors of the initiative, this rating can become a useful tool for potential clients of transport companies and help in choosing a reliable and responsible counterparty. It can also be used by government agencies to make necessary regulatory and administrative decisions.
LTL remains the most popular segment of cargo transportation, having a direct impact on the Russian consumer market. At the same time, a significant number of players in the industry are still in the “gray zone,” which entails many risks for society and the state. According to estimates by the Public Consumer Initiative, the whitewashing of the freight transportation market will allow the state to receive up to 300 billion rubles in taxes.
