The first case of violence against civilians against a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine went to court

In Russia, the first criminal case against a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) accused of forcible seizure of power and ill-treatment of civilians has been brought to court. The case is considered by the Southern District Military Court.
Anton Cherednik was in the dock. He is also charged with murder and training for the purpose of committing a terrorist attack. It is noted that this is the first such criminal case in the Russian Federation.
Cherednik is accused under Art. 278 “Forcible seizure of power”, part 1 of Art. 356 “Ill-treatment of the civilian population, the use of prohibited means and methods in an armed conflict, as well as Part 2 of Art. 105 “Murder” and Art. 205.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Training for the purpose of carrying out a terrorist attack.”
According to the Investigation, on March 27 last year, the Ukrainian military stopped two men in the Mirny village of the city of Mariupol. He ordered them to lie down on the ground. They showed him the documents, but the military man demanded to pronounce a phrase in Ukrainian. Pointing out that the pronunciation was incorrect, Cherednik shot one of them.
