The first car with Russian license plates was confiscated in the Czech Republic

A case of confiscation of a car with Russian registration was recorded in the Czech Republic. This was announced by the German Ministry of Finance in a response to Bundestag deputy Eugene Schmidt, write “Izvestia” (the ministry’s response is at the disposal of the publication).

The first such incident was discovered in Germany, when a Russian woman’s personal car was confiscated with reference to Art. 3i of Council Regulation No. 833/2014. It implies a ban on the import of a number of goods into the EU countries. Izvestia clarifies that the car was returned through the court.

“The Federal Government is aware that in the Czech Republic there was a case of confiscation of a private passenger car that arrived from Russia,” follows from the response of the Ministry of Finance. The Russian embassy in the Czech Republic responded to the newspaper that they had no information about this case.

In addition, the German government clarified with other EU members how they interpret the EU Council regulations. France, Poland and Croatia confirmed that the document “has the same interpretation as here,” the German Ministry of Finance added. The newspaper notes that the French Embassy previously stated that Paris adheres to those rules that do not prohibit the entry of Russian cars. However, later they clarified that they were still studying the issue, but on September 19, Izvestia confirmed that the rules remain the same.

Previously, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland banned the entry of passenger cars with Russian registration into their countries. Norway will introduce a ban on October 3. Earlier on October 2 about similar measures announced Bulgaria, where the ban will take effect throughout the day.
