The All-Russian Family Hearth Flame from the Russia Exhibition was delivered to all regions of the country. The last one was the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The flame traveled 154 thousand kilometers, which is four times the length of the equator.
The “Heart of Russia” fireplace was lit on January 23 during the “Family – Loved Ones” forum, at which the country’s President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of the Year of the Family and emphasized that family values unite Russian society.
The flame from Murom, the birthplace of Peter and Fevronia, was preserved in 12 lamps, which were sent to 8 federal districts and new regions. It was then transported by planes, trains and automobiles throughout the country.
“The fire of the All-Russian family hearth is a symbol of family, love and fidelity,” said Deputy General Director of the Russia exhibition Anastasia Zvyagina, clarifying that in some regions it has already become a tradition to transfer the fire to the newlyweds at the registry office. It is planned that the fire will spread to municipalities, cities and villages, registry offices and wedding palaces so that every family can receive it.
