The Federation Council unanimously approved Putin’s decree on martial law in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions

The Federation Council unanimously approved the decrees of President Vladimir Putin, which were announced during a meeting of the Security Council. One of the decrees introduced martial law in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as in Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Other decree headquarters of territorial defense are being created in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, and a regime of the maximum level of response is introduced in the territories of the regions.
Also at the meeting of the Security Council, Mr Putin endowed heads of regions with additional powers to ensure security. By relevant decrees in eight regions bordering Ukraine introduced medium-level response mode, and in the Central and Southern federal districts announced high alert mode.
Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev told reporters that no changes to the laws of the Russian Federation in connection with the presidential decrees are required. “No additional changes to the current Russian legislation in connection with these decrees of the President of the Russian Federation will be required,” Mr. Kosachev said (quoted from TASS). According to him, everything is already spelled out in Russian legislation.
