The Federation Council plans to set the date for the Russian presidential elections in December. Senator from Crimea Olga Kovitidi spoke about this on Monday, October 9.
As the politician wrote in her Telegram channel, “we clearly understand that the well-established state system of Russia is stable and stable.”
Kovitidi assured that the legislative framework for preparing for the presidential elections has already been prepared.
Earlier, the chairman of the Federation Council commission for the protection of state sovereignty, Andrei Klimov, said that the proposal of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, to extend the current presidential term of Vladimir Putin cannot be implemented. We are talking about Kadyrov’s initiative to refuse to hold presidential elections until the end of the special operation or to hold them in March 2024, but then Putin should be the only candidate.
At the same time, Vladimir Putin did not confirm his intention to run for the post of head of state again.
