The Federation Council approved the resignation of Kudrin from the post of head of the Accounts Chamber

The Federation Council voted for the early resignation of Alexei Kudrin from the post of chairman of the Accounts Chamber. 151 senators voted in favor, 1 abstained.

November 29 to the Federation Council received presentation by President Vladimir Putin on the dismissal of Alexei Kudrin from the post of head of the Accounts Chamber. According to Mr. Kudrin, after his civil service, he will focus on “big projects of private initiatives that have a significant effect on people.”

November 25 RBC citing sources, he said that Alexei Kudrin could get a position at Yandex. On the same day, Yandex reported that the board of directors of parent Yandex NV was considering restructuring.

Sergei Ryabukhin, deputy head of the Federation Council committee on budget, said that the upper house of parliament would soon begin to form a list of candidates for the post. According to him, the list of candidates will be sent to the president before the end of the year.

According to sources RBC, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Alexander Zhukov is being considered as a candidate for the post of head of the Accounts Chamber. According to them, Alexei Kudrin also approved his candidacy.

For the first time, senators will accept the resignation of the head of the Accounts Chamber, since before the reform of the 2020 Constitution, these powers were the responsibility of the State Duma. Previously, it was assumed that the Duma parties offer the president at least three candidates for this position – he had to choose one of them and put it to a vote. The appointment procedure described in the federal law “On the Accounts Chamber” has not yet been brought into line with the new Constitution.
