The Federation Council approved a law under which the status of a combat veteran applies to volunteers participating in a special military operation (SVO). Meeting broadcast was conducted on the website of the upper house. Earlier law was approved by the State Duma.
accepted law establishes the status of a combat veteran for persons who entered volunteer formations created by state authorities of the Russian Federation, “contributing to the fulfillment of the tasks assigned to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the course of a special military operation.” And those of them who were injured during this period will also be able to apply for the status of a combat invalid.
The law, which will enter into force upon publication, applies to legal relations that arose from February 24, 2022 in the territories of Ukraine, the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, and from September 30, 2022 – in Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
