The Federation Council announced the preparation of a bill on the limit when buying goods on the stock exchange

The Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank and the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), together with senators, have developed a draft law on establishing a possible minimum limit when buying a number of goods on the stock exchange, told TASS Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Nikolai Zhuravlev.

“We understand that many goods that subsequently influence the formation of prices for other goods are also, in fact, strategic or quasi-strategic, so we also propose to introduce regulation on the minimum trading limit on the stock exchange for them, the government, at the suggestion of the FAS, will establish a list these goods,” said Zhuravlev.

According to him, this list should be “much wider than, for example, only oil, gas and fertilizers.” The initiative is designed to ensure the creation of a national system of price indicators, it will help form transparent pricing mechanisms, Zhuravlev explained. The measure, in his opinion, will also reduce the need to use administrative measures to curb prices for goods and will provide “transparent, high-quality and independent information and analytical support to market participants.”
