The factories of the Urals working for the state defense order were transferred to a six-day period

Large enterprises of Rostec, Almaz-Antey and Roskosmos in the Sverdlovsk region have been transferred to a six-day work week. Andrey Vetluzhskikh, chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of the region, said that, in theory, the working day of employees could be increased to 12 hours.

“Yes, they are now working six days instead of five days a week. Yes, according to the legislation, it is possible to increase the working day almost every day up to four hours for the purpose of production needs, to work up to twelve hours, ”said a representative of trade unions at a press conference (quoted by TASS). He said that the state order for defense enterprises was “significantly increased.”

Andrey Vetluzhskikh noted that the trade union makes sure that the management of the plants does not allow abuses in relation to employees. According to him, the employees of the enterprises “absolutely” have increased wages.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on special measures in the economy in the face of a military operation in July. The law allows the government to establish the procedure and conditions for attracting employees of enterprises working for defense to work overtime. Rostec transferred several enterprises to overtime work back in August. Among them is Uralvagonzavod.

As said Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, in 2023 the volume of state defense orders will be increased by 1.5 times. The minister claims that this will provide the Russian army with weapons and equipment by 97%.
