Officers-Belsky: The EU will accept Hungary’s plan, as they are interested in helping Ukraine
The countries of the European Union (EU) are to varying degrees interested in allocating money to Ukraine. This statement was made by senior researcher at IMEMO RAS Dmitry Ofitserov-Belsky on the radio Sputnik.
Earlier, Politico, citing diplomatic sources, reported that Hungary could lift its veto on the EU’s allocation of financial assistance to Kyiv in the event of an annual review of funding.
The expert believes that for the European Union and Kyiv it does not make much difference how the new support will be allocated – for four years at once or divided into four annual tranches. We are talking about an annual allocation of 12.5 billion euros.
“These amounts are quite conditional, they can vary, which, in fact, Orban insists on, proposing to review the amount every year,” said Ofitserov-Belsky.
He emphasized that this amount could also be revised upward.
