The experiment on labeling building materials in the Russian Federation will take place from March 15 to December 1

Government decidedthat the experiment on labeling certain types of building materials will take place from March 15 to December 1, 2024. Participation in the experiment is voluntary; goods will be tracked using the Honest Sign system marking tools.

Manufacturers of cement, concrete and construction dry mixes, mortars, importers of building materials and wholesale and retail trade organizations will be able to participate in the experiment. The task is to develop optimal technologies for labeling selected goods.

As the experiment operator TsRPT explained, the decision was made due to the growing level of illegal products. “The share of counterfeit dry construction mixtures is about 30%, cement – up to 21.3%,” the press service of the CRPT told Interfax.

Labeling of goods through the “Honest Sign” system has been introduced in Russia since 2019 to combat counterfeiting. Now the labeling also applies to dairy products, bottled water, medicines, tobacco, fur products, shoes and allows you to process data on the turnover of these goods on the market, forming a digital model of industries. Interfax reportedthat in the second quarter of 2024, several departments need to submit a bill on criminal liability of importers for importing unmarked goods into the country.
