The Exchange of Kazakhstan has determined the timing of the segregation of accounts of investors from Russia

Kazakh broker Halyk Finance reported that the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange required brokers to forcibly segregate accounts of Russians and Belarusians settled in a currency other than the tenge through Euroclear and Clearstream after May 1.

“Tentatively, segregation will begin after May 1, 2023. After this date, there may be delays in settlements on transactions made on KASE, which may lead to default situations and penalties from the exchange,”— informed broker.

The Central Securities Depository of Kazakhstan announced the beginning of the segregation of part of the financial instruments of Russians and Belarusians on Euroclear accounts in the fall of 2022. Euroclear demands to segregate the accounts of citizens of Russia and Belarus in accordance with EU sanctions.
