The European Parliament heatedly discussed the supply of weapons and ammunition to Kyiv

A heated discussion about military assistance to Ukraine took place in the European Parliament, reports Deutsche Welle (foreign agent media). During the meeting, many parliamentarians emphasized that a turning point, an existential moment for Europe, had arrived. There was even a comparison with 1938.

Supporters of Ukraine have presented a new “victory formula”: to defeat Russia in the war, each country must allocate 0.25 percent of GDP annually. Lithuanian MP Andrius Kubilius cited the following figures: in 2023, Russia spent more than 100 billion euros on the conflict, and Ukraine, with all the help from the West, allocated only 80 billion euros for its defense. EU military assistance to Ukraine amounted to only 0.075 percent of GDP, the US – 0.1 percent.

But other voices were also heard. Ukraine has reached a dead end, said Claire Daly, a representative of the Left Group in the European Parliament, noting the “stunning stupidity” of EU leaders and calling on them to “stop the madness.” “The only people you help are the shareholders of the arms companies,” said the Irish woman.

And Slovak MP Miroslav Radakovsky said that the Ukrainian conflict is a problem of the United States, and “the EU is just a vassal of the United States.”
