The European Parliament called on EU countries to quickly adopt the tenth package of sanctions against Russia

The European Parliament called on the countries of the European Union “as soon as possible” to adopt the tenth package of sanctions against Russia. About it says in a resolution adopted on February 2 at a special session of the European Parliament, on the eve of the upcoming EU-Ukraine summit.

“Members of the European Parliament call on Member States [ЕС] to adopt the tenth package of sanctions against Moscow as soon as possible and to continuously and proactively make proposals for new sanctions against new sectors and individuals,” the document says. In addition, the European Parliament calls for sanctions against companies such as “Lukoil” and “Rosatom”, which are still present on the EU market, as well as to refuse not only to import oil and gas, but also uranium from Russia.

The resolution of the European Parliament is advisory in nature and not binding on the institutions of the European Union.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that the European Union has “ideas” regarding new sanctions against Russia. He did not comment on which sectors will be affected by the new restrictions.

Against the backdrop of the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the EU has already adopted nine packages of sanctions against the Russian Federation. Restrictions have affected many sectors of the economy, including energy, high-tech sector, aviation, banking, mining, automotive, etc.
