The European Parliament adopted a resolution in Strasbourg, which calls for starting a dialogue with Armenia on visa liberalization. The resolution was supported by 504 deputies, 4 were against it, and 32 abstained. This issue was discussed in the European Parliament at the end of February.

The Parliament welcomes Armenia’s desire to strengthen relations with the EU and believes that the European Union should help Armenia gain a foothold in the community of democracies. The deputies believe that the experience of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova can serve as an example for the integration of Armenia with the European market. They also call for stronger defense cooperation, military aid through the European Peace Facility and an expansion of EUMA’s mission. Parliament emphasizes its readiness to impose sanctions against individuals who threaten the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia.
