The European Commission fined Intel more than 370 million euros

The European Commission fined chipmaker Intel 376.3 million euros for violating antitrust rules. writes Bloomberg with reference to the EC statement.
The fine was imposed for “abusing a dominant position in the computer chip market” by using x86 processors. According to the commission, Intel “took a number of actions aimed at excluding competitors.”
As stated by Intel, the EC has resumed proceedings to determine a fine against Intel based on the previously established alleged abuse. We may be talking about the decision of the antimonopoly regulator in 2009. The Commission accused the company of infringing on its competitor AMD.
In January 2022 Intel achieved cancellation of the fine of 1.06 billion euros that was imposed by the EC. Then the European Court of General Jurisdiction did not support the EC’s findings that Intel violated antitrust laws and called the regulator’s analysis “incomplete.”
