The military-industrial complex of the EU countries may not increase the production of military products due to a shortage of personnel
The military-industrial complex of the EU countries is facing a shortage of workers and engineers, according to Euractiv, citing sources in the defense industry.
“We’re going through a tough time when it comes to recruiting,” a source told the publication on condition of anonymity, while another confirmed the VPK’s position.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, the industry urgently needs both heads and hands. And if engineers and workers capable of making military equipment or working on machine tools cannot be hired, then the factories will not be able to increase the production of military products.
Sources believe that long-term orders and investments could help with the problem.
Member of the European Commission for the internal market, Thierry Breton, confirmed the shortage of personnel to the publication. The problem became known against the backdrop of EU plans to increase the production of ammunition for urgent deliveries to Ukraine.
