The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, speaking to reporters following the first day of the EU summit in Brussels, said that the countries of the union should determine for themselves whether they are ready to supply aircraft to Ukraine.

Michel stressed that Ukraine needs more support and more equipment, but declined to comment on the issue, stressing that “EU member states should make this decision themselves.”

“This is a sovereign decision of the EU member states, and they must decide what and how to supply,” von der Leyen supported him.
