The EU has threatened measures against Baku in case of escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh

The European Union is ready to take measures against Azerbaijan in light of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. This statement was made on Thursday, September 21, by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
As the head of European diplomacy noted in response to an appeal from several dozen members of the European Parliament on this issue, restrictions against Azerbaijan may follow if the situation in the region worsens.
At the same time, even during the day, the representative of the European Union stated that the integration association does not yet have any decisions on possible sanctions against Baku – the situation is being assessed.
Earlier, former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan was outraged by the actions of the Azerbaijani authorities in Nagorno-Karabakh, saying that “120 thousand and 30 thousand children, pregnant women and the elderly” are in danger. The politician called punish Azerbaijan with sanctions.
At the same time, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured Yerevan of support for the sovereignty and integrity of Armenia, and also expressed alarm at the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, but about sanctions from the American side there was no talk.
