Since the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine in 2022, the EU has sent Kyiv about $90 billion in aid, of which a third went to arms supplies. About it reported European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen speaking at the Hudson Institute.
“We have already transferred almost $90 billion in aid to Ukraine, of which $27 billion are arms supplies. And more than ever before in the history of international support, we continue to coordinate our assistance with the United States and G7 partners to meet all of Ukraine’s needs,” she said.
October 9, press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov statedthat support for Ukraine by Western countries will decrease regardless of the situation in Israel, since technical capabilities have their limits, and money tends to run out. Later, European Commission spokesman Eric Mamer clarifiedthat the Palestinian-Israeli conflict will not affect the EU’s military and financial assistance to Ukraine.
Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv and pointed to the growing direct and indirect involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine. Moscow also pointed to an attempt by the West to prolong the fighting with arms supplies.
