The head of the Military Committee of the European Union (EU), General Robert Briger, said that the military from the EU countries can go to train soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) after the end of the conflict. The words of the general are quoted by the German newspaper Die Welt.
Briger noted that he could well imagine that the current training of Ukrainian military personnel by the European Union will be extended beyond the planned two-year period, and then, in due course, will be expanded.
The general explained the future presence of EU soldiers in Ukraine by the need to assist Kyiv in mine clearance and subsequent capacity building of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and military equipment after the end of the Ukrainian conflict.
