The EU agreed on the 11th package of anti-Russian sanctions

Permanent Representatives of the European Union (EU) agreed on the 11th package of sanctions against Russia, reported on Twitter the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU.

“Today, EU ambassadors agreed on the 11th package of sanctions against Russia. The package includes measures aimed at countering sanctions circumvention and individual listings.

By words Ambassador of Poland to the EU Andrzej Sados, the new sanctions will affect 70 people, 30 legal entities, the southern branch of the Druzhba pipeline, and a ban on entry for Russian cargo trailers will also be introduced.

In early June, the newspaper Politico, citing sources wrotethat the EU countries were unable to agree on new sanctions against Russia as part of the 11th package at a meeting on June 7. According to the newspaper, Greece and Hungary, whose companies are included in the Ukrainian black list of “war sponsors”, criticized the draft new package of sanctions.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation. In particular, Russian President Vladimir Putin called restrictions are illegitimate and said that they “cause serious damage to the international legal system.” In the Kremlin declaredthat Westerners have to pay for sanctions against Russia.

The Russian special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.
