The EU agreed on the 11th package of anti-Russian sanctions

Permanent representatives of the European Union (EU) on June 21 agreed on the 11th package of sanctions against Russia. This was reported on Twitter by the representative office of Sweden, which currently holds the EU presidency. The package includes a ban on the entry of Russian trailers to trucks with goods, transportation of oil along the northern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline (goes through Belarus, Poland, Germany, Latvia and Lithuania), restrictions on 70 individuals on charges of “deportation of Ukrainian children” and 30 Russian legal entities on charges of circumventing sanctions to “support Russian military efforts.” This was stated to journalists by Poland’s permanent representative to the EU Andrzej Sados in London. The EU documents on the package of sanctions were not published at the time of issue. Vedomosti sent a request to the European Commission.

According to Sados, Warsaw insisted on such parameters of the current package of sanctions. He noted that a new, 12th, package of sanctions is already being prepared, within which Poland will try to achieve the inclusion of those provisions that could not be included in the current package. “I do not evaluate this package negatively. There are elements that will open up possibilities for applying secondary sanctions to those entities that systematically support circumvention. There are a number of much-needed solutions out there. [Но] the Polish side will once again seek an embargo on Russian diamonds, as well as on the Russian nuclear sector,” Sadosz said (cited by the state-owned Polskie Radio). Restrictions against Rosatom from 2022 have been repeatedly demanded by Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
