The Embassy sent a note to the Polish Foreign Ministry due to reports of the detention of two Russians

The Russian Embassy in Warsaw sent a note to the Polish Foreign Ministry in connection with reports that two Russians were detained on charges of espionage. About it informs TASS with reference to the Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergey Andreev.

“We sent a note to the Polish Foreign Ministry demanding, in accordance with the consular convention, to tell us who was detained, with a request for information about the alleged detention of Russian citizens,” the diplomat said.

According to him, the Polish authorities did not send an official notification to the Russian embassy. The detainees themselves, their lawyers and relatives also did not ask for help.

Andreev specified that now the diplomatic mission does not have any information on this topic. “When we get some additional information, we will see what to do,” he added.

August 14 Minister of the Interior and Administration of Poland Mariusz Kaminsky informed about the arrest of two Russian citizens in the case of espionage. According to the authorities of the republic, the detainees allegedly distributed propaganda materials of PMC Wagner on the territory of Krakow and Warsaw.

Polish authorities have been reporting arrests for spying for Russia since the spring of 2022. At least 16 detainees are known.

On August 4, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Poland announced the detention of a citizen of Belarus. He is accused of participating in an organized criminal group and carrying out actions against the interests of Poland. According to the department, the detainee was collecting information about critical infrastructure facilities and carried out sabotage activities “aimed at destabilizing the political situation in Poland.”
