The Russian Embassy in the United States responded to Western media accusations of the Russian side in strikes on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Comment appeared in the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission.
“We call on the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency to condemn the criminal actions of Kyiv and take urgent measures to prevent provocations at radiation hazardous facilities in Ukraine. And American journalists – to stop bawling Russophobic fabrications, ”the message says.
The embassy noted that a “disinformation campaign” was unfolding in American publications, in which it “blatantly claims” that the Russian military carried out strikes on the nuclear plant. According to diplomats, in reality the situation is different. According to the Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters of the Russian Federation for Humanitarian Response, Ukrainian troops fired at the nuclear power plant. Diplomats drew attention to the fact that Ukraine’s actions threaten the nuclear security of all of Europe.
On August 5, the CAA of the Zaporozhye region reported another shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant from the Ukrainian side. As a result, two power lines and water pipes were damaged. The Russian Defense Ministry called Ukraine’s actions “nuclear terrorism”. The department noted that the accident at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant will cause a global man-made disaster. On the night of August 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine again struck at the nuclear power plant, a fire started. Later, the authorities of the region announced the elimination of the fire.
