Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov held “isolated” meetings with representatives of the State Department, the Russian embassy confirmed the American side’s information about contacts, while stressing that the nature of these meetings was unsatisfactory.

Confirming the very fact of the conversations of the Russian ambassador that took place, however, he forgets that such contacts are isolated, ”the press secretary of the Russian embassy in Washington, Igor Grigorenko, said (cit. according to TASS).

He stressed that at the same time, Antonov does not always have the opportunity to promptly fulfill Moscow’s order, since “he is either refused to receive by the heads of the foreign affairs department, or is redirected to low-level officials.” According to Grigorenko, there were cases when Antonov failed to state the Russian position during these meetings. “They interrupted him and made it clear that the Americans have more important things to do than listen to the opinion of Russia,” the commentary specifies.

Grigorenko added that some requests from the Russian side remain unanswered even after the ambassador’s demarches. “I do not think that the State Department will be satisfied with such an attitude in Moscow to the requests and requests of the new US Ambassador Lynn Tracy. Obviously, the situation needs to be corrected. This is in the interests of both parties,” the spokesman stressed.

The day before, March 6, State Department spokesman Ned Price announced a series of meetings with Antonov. He did not give any details.
