The economy of the eurozone countries grew by 0.1% in the fourth quarter

Statistical Office of the EU presented preliminary data on key economic indicators for the fourth quarter of 2022. During this period, the GDP of 19 eurozone countries grew by 0.1% compared to the third quarter. This is at odds with forecast Analysts from Trading Economics, who predicted a contraction in GDP for the quarter by 0.1%.
The GDP growth rate of 0.1% in the fourth quarter was the slowest since the first quarter of 2021. This is due to the pressure of high inflation (9.2% in December 2022), as well as rising demand and more expensive business loans.
According to Eurostat data in country terms, the economies of Ireland (3.5% of GDP in Q4 2022), Spain (0.2%), France (0.1%) showed the strongest growth, and Sweden ( -0.6%), Czech Republic (-0.3%) and Germany (-0.2%).
According to Trading Economics econometric models, the eurozone GDP growth rate will be approximately 0.3% in 2024 and 0.4% in 2025.
