Shvytkin noted that there are many issues that still need to be resolved, but in general the army needs up to 500 thousand contract soldiers.
According to the deputy, contract soldiers are now in the process of combat training and, after its completion, will be sent to various branches of the military in accordance with the tasks set by the Ministry of Defense.
Earlier, at the Eastern Economic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that over the past 6-7 months, approximately 270 thousand people went to military service under contract. He also noted that every day the Ministry of Defense concludes contracts with 1-1.5 thousand citizens.
Earlier, the State Duma put forward a proposal to create a contract army in Russia of 7 million soldiers. However, this proposal was criticized by Andrei Gurulev, a member of the State Duma Committee on Defense, who urged not to confuse dreams with reality.
