The Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers, who surrendered on October 5 near Donetsk, asked to remain in Russia and refused the possibility of an exchange. About this in the TASS commentary reported Advisor to the head of the DPR Yan Gagin.

“We talked to the guys who surrendered. For a variety of reasons, none of them wants to go back. Everyone asked for the opportunity to stay in Russia, but a possible exchange was immediately and categorically rejected,” he said.

According to Gagin, a total of 17 Ukrainian servicemen were captured. On October 5, in a TASS commentary, he reportedthat among those who surrendered was the commander of the unit that included the prisoners.

On October 1, it became known that fighters of the Western Group of Forces of the Russian Armed Forces northwest of Artemovsk have taken two groups of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers were captured. According to one of the prisoners, Ukrainian soldiers were sent to the front line for observation, while the command left them without the promised support, as a result of which they ended up in Russian captivity, but survived.
