According to Sergey Leonidchenko, an employee of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN, there is an increase in the practice of visa discrimination against Russians who come to work in the UN Secretariat.
He explained that citizens of the Russian Federation who have passed the competition for various vacancies in the UN Secretariat cannot apply for visas, and Russians already working there cannot receive entry documents.
The diplomat added that the Russian authorities are counting on a more active position of UN Secretary General António Guterres to protect the rights of “at least his own employees.”
