The diplomat spoke about the threat that emerged after Finland joined NATO

Finland’s accession to NATO increases the threat of direct conflict between nuclear powers, said Russian Ambassador to Belgium Alexander Tokovinin.
Speaking on the air of the Russia-24 TV channel, he stressed that the alliance decided to continue escalating confrontation in relations with Russia, and called this a strategic mistake of Brussels.
“This is a line that, unfortunately, leads to an increase in the threat of a direct clash of nuclear powers,” Tokovinin said.
According to him, the EU’s policy of building security not together, but against Russia, is also nothing but a strategic mistake. The diplomat said that history knows no successful examples of such a course.
On April 4, Finland officially became a member of NATO. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken attended the ceremony of the country’s official entry into the alliance. He accepted the protocols on the accession of the country ratified by other members of the alliance.
