The Russian volunteer unit Espanyol, which was formed from fans of football clubs, was able to thwart an attack by the Ukrainian army in the Kleshcheevka area near Artemovsk in the DPR. The deputy commander of the Espanyola detachment with the call sign “Yary” spoke about this.
He noted that the fighters lured Ukrainian military personnel to the cemetery area, destroying the observation post, as well as a mortar crew with weapons and a supply of ammunition. As a result, Russian fighters knocked out the Ukrainian Armed Forces from their occupied positions. “Yary” clarified that this happened at the end of August.
“Our area of responsibility is from Kleshcheevka to Kurdyumovka. Accordingly, we carried out reconnaissance of the front line, identified the enemy, did not touch him at first, allowed him to act brazenly and come close,” the fighter said.
According to him, similar situations occurred throughout the front line in this area. Now the squad’s task is defense, but the fighters are still ready for offensive actions.
