The plenary session of the State Duma on Wednesday began with speeches by the leaders of the factions, who commented on the president’s morning address. All of them supported Vladimir Putin’s decision to announce partial mobilization. At the same time, some deputies thought about where they themselves would be more effective – at the front or in the Duma – and came to directly opposite conclusions.

The leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Gennady Zyuganov, was the first to speak from the Duma rostrum, who immediately said that he had been waiting for such an appeal for a long time. “Apparently, each generation can have not only 1941, but must necessarily have a new 1945,” remarked the communist.

Then Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin urged the deputies to ask themselves what they can do and what kind of assistance would be effective. He proposed to study which of the employees of the apparatus of the lower house and deputies can be in demand at the front, who has military skills and wants to take part in a special operation. “Today, since the beginning of the NWO in Donbass, we have (Adam.— “b”) Delimkhanov, leading the volunteers of the Chechen Republic, (Dmitry.— “b”) Sablin, representing the parliament of the Donetsk Republic, (Victor.— “b”) Vodolatsky – of the Lugansk Republic,” the speaker recalled.

“Absolutely correct” called the position of the President, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Leonid Slutsky. “It wouldn’t be mobilizationif the collective West would come to its senses in time,” he remarked. According to the deputy, in recent weeks the “self-mobilization”, which the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov called for, is already underway, powerful volunteer battalions are being formed. “Therefore, the president’s decision has become a superstructure on those processes that are already coming from the depths of the people themselves,” Mr. Slutsky believes. In his opinion, the deputies also have something to do: “There are tasks that need to be completed in a daily format.”

The leader of A Just Russia – For Truth, Sergei Mironov, recalled the words of the president that “we have not started yet,” and rejoiced that we have now begun – “with all the ensuing consequences for the Nazis in Ukraine, for the NATO bloc and its leader represented by the United States “.

Partial mobilization, he said, is “the beginning of a serious defense of Russia’s national interests.” In conclusion, Mr. Mironov, as a mining geophysicist, confirmed Vladimir Putin’s words that in the event of a nuclear strike, the wind could blow towards those who “are trying to blackmail Russia with nuclear weapons.”

The head of the New People, Aleksey Nechaev, noted that “by his decree, the president found a measure that, on the one hand, is sufficient, on the other hand, it is not superfluous – this is partial mobilization.” He declared his support for this decision and warned those who would go to the rally against the mobilization that they “wittingly or unwillingly support the enemy.”

Dmitry Vyatkin, the first deputy head of the United Russia faction, was not shy about expressing himself: the task of the deputies, in his words, is to “condemn and incite” citizens against those who do not support the president and the army. Public intolerance towards them “should become the norm,” United Russia is sure. “We need to convince our fellow citizens that not only the traitor who went over to the side of the enemy, but also the one who instills some doubts in the souls and minds,” the deputy called on his colleagues. And then he moved from the general to the particular, explaining why he personally would not go to the SVO: “Sometimes it seems that, probably, to get away from solving problems in some way and write a statement, to go to the front is probably the easiest solution . But behind us are citizens who live an ordinary peaceful life.”

But the readiness to go to fight in Ukraine as part of the announced mobilization was announced from the rostrum by another United Russia Yuri Shvytkin, who participated in the war in Chechnya. “At present, in the zone of a special military operation, along with other military personnel, there is the native Pskov airborne division, in which I served for a long time. My OMON, SOBR, where my colleagues, my comrades-in-arms carry out the task. And I want to say that I am ready to be with them,” he said.

In addition, the deputies urgently adopted an appeal to the parliaments of the world “on the threat to peace and stability in Europe emanating from Ukraine”, so that, as Leonid Slutsky explained, “today it was read in the parliaments of the Asia-Pacific region”, where they “support our approach “. The document, in particular, says that “the Kyiv regime, pushed by the US and NATO, is stepping up military operations, bringing the situation to the brink of a large-scale bloody confrontation.” In this regard, the Duma called on “sensible politicians and parliamentarians” to “carefully investigate and resolutely condemn” the actions of the US and NATO.
