The Department of Justice put several Canadian organizations on the list of undesirables

The Ministry of Justice of Russia has included in the list of foreign and international non-governmental organizations whose activities are recognized as undesirable in the country, the Canadian Ukrainian Congress (CUC) or the Canadian Ukrainian Congress, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute and the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada. “Organizations are included in the list in accordance with Parts 1, 4 and 7 of Article 3.1 of the Federal Law “On Measures to Influence Persons Involved in Violations of Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms, Rights and Freedoms of Citizens of the Russian Federation” based on the decision of the First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation dated August 4, 2022,” the ministry said in a statement.
Now the list of undesirable organizations includes 65 associations. On July 15, the Prosecutor General’s Office declared undesirable the activities of Bellingcat Ltd., Stichting Bellingcat and The Insider (all three were recognized as foreign agents), as well as the Institute for Legal Initiative of Central and Eastern Europe. August 1 Ministry of Justice introduced to the list of undesirable organizations of the Open Estonia Foundation.
June 3 Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia accepted the decision to close entry into the country for 41 Canadian citizens – the Russian sanctions list included members of the KUK.
