The Czech Republic leased part of the capacity of the Dutch LNG terminal

The Czech Republic will receive part of the capacity of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the Netherlands for 3 billion cubic meters. m from September 8, the agency reports CTK.

“The Czech Republic has leased one third of the capacity of the offshore liquefied natural gas terminal being built in the port of Eemshaven in the Netherlands. The country can fill them with 3 billion cubic meters. m of gas,” the publication says.

It is noted that the leased capacity is enough to cover a third of the annual needs of Czech consumers in gas. Liquefied natural gas will be delivered to the terminal on specially modified tankers, then it will be heated here and thus converted into a gaseous state.

Previously became knownthat the Czech Republic will convene on September 9 an extraordinary meeting of EU energy ministers on energy prices. Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, in turn, said on his Twitter page that he had discussed a meeting of energy ministers with the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia, which, among other things, affected the supply of energy resources. So, in early June, the EU introduced a partial embargo on Russian oil, and on August 10, an embargo on the purchase of coal from Russia began to operate. European countries are also looking for ways to abandon Russian gas.

As part of the fight against the energy crisis and the prevention of possible difficulties with gas supply this winter, the EU countries decided to save energy and reduce their consumption by 7-15%. Under the plan, Germany, for example, called on households and companies to reduce gas consumption by 20%.
