CSTO Secretary General: Armenia has not suspended its membership in the organization, but does not participate in the work of its secretariat

Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov said that Yerevan does not take part in the work of the organization’s secretariat, but there have been no official statements about the suspension of Armenia’s membership in the CSTO.

According to Tasmagambetov, Yerevan really has not been participating in the work of the CSTO Secretariat lately. He emphasized that this is Armenia’s decision at this stage, and the CSTO, which is an international organization, respects any decision of a sovereign state. At the same time, the CSTO Secretary General noted that the organization’s activities continue in full, and all procedures are observed in accordance with its regulatory framework.

Tasmagambetov clarified that Yerevan is informed by the organization’s secretariat about the decisions taken and adopted in working hours. Commenting on the statement of Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on the suspension of Yerevan’s membership in the CSTO, the organization’s secretary general indicated that the secretariat had not received any official statements from Armenia about the suspension of membership in the CSTO.
