The court sentenced the Russian to 12 years in the case of treason

The Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced a Russian citizen to 12 years in a strict regime colony in a case of treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This was reported by the press service of the FSB of Russia, transmits TASS. The verdict has entered into force.
The verdict was passed against a Russian citizen born in 1988 Artur Katrychko. According to the FSB, he acted in favor of Ukraine and, on the instructions of the special services, transmitted abroad information that became known to him during his official activities. This information could be used against Russia’s security, the ministry said.
By information of the joint press service of the courts of the Krasnodar Territory, this is the first sentence in the region, issued under Art. 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. They added that Katrychko was also sentenced to one year of restriction of freedom.
About the fact that in the Krasnodar Territory there was detained a man in a treason case, the FSB reported on August 19, 2022. He worked under the pseudonym “Archie”. By information from open sources, Katrychko worked as a consultant in the information technology support department of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Krasnodar Territory from 2017 to 2019.
On April 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law a law imposing life sentences for high treason. The amendments amend Art. 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Prior to this, the maximum punishment under the article was 20 years in prison with a fine of 500,000 rubles.
