The court sent to jail accused of attempted murder of Prilepin

The Semyonovsky District Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region on May 8 chose a measure of restraint for the accused of attempting to assassinate the writer Zakhar Prilepin. The prosecutor’s office of the Nizhny Novgorod region supported the petition to place Alexander Permyakov in custody for two months, reported on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.

“According to the investigation, on May 6, 2023, in the village of Pionerskoye, Nizhny Novgorod Region, Permyakov blew up the car in which Prilepin and his friend were traveling,” the Prosecutor General’s Office recalled.

Earlier today Permyakov presented charges of terrorist act (Article 205 of the Criminal Code) and illegal arms trafficking (Article 222 of the Criminal Code). The investigation requested that the man be taken into custody. Prior to this, the accused confessed to working for the Ukrainian special services.

Prilepin’s car was blown up on the morning of May 6 in the Nizhny Novgorod region. As a result of the explosion, Prilepin’s assistant and ally, Alexander Shubin, a native of Lugansk, who previously served in the LPR, died. The writer himself suffered and underwent surgery.

The day before, May 7, Prilepin for the first time told about the circumstances of what happened. In particular, he clarified that during the explosion he was driving, and his deceased colleague was driving on the right in the passenger seat. According to him, after the explosion, he lost consciousness for three minutes, and local residents helped him get out of the car. He was then taken by helicopter to the hospital, where he was told that two mines had been placed. Both of Prilepin’s legs are broken “and there’s something else.” The writer also confirmed that he dropped his daughter off five minutes before the explosion.
