The court in Moscow fined the commission for the preservation of Sakharov’s heritage for 5 million rubles

The Tagansky Court of Moscow found guilty the “Public Commission for the Preservation of the Heritage of Academician Sakharov” (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) of violating the rules for the activities of a foreign agent in Russia, the court said.
She was found guilty in ten cases under Part 2 of Art. 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (production or distribution of materials without indicating the status of a foreign agent). The Commission for the Preservation of the Heritage of Academician Sakharov imposed the maximum fine (500,000 rubles) under this article in each of the ten cases. In total, the organization was fined 5 million rubles.
As the court clarified, the reason for bringing to administrative responsibility was the lack of marking “foreign agents” in 10 videos on the Youtube channel.
Ministry of Justice introduced regional public organization “Public Commission for the Preservation of the Legacy of Academician Sakharov” in the list of non-profit organizations-foreign agents at the end of December 2021. The Public Commission for the Preservation of the Legacy of Academician Sakharov was established in 1990 on the initiative of Elena Bonner and is the supreme governing body of the Sakharov Center and the “Archive Sakharov.
