The court fined Zoom Video Communications for violating the rules for the activities of foreign organizations on the Internet in Russia (Part 2 of Article 13.49 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). The reason was that the company did not create a branch in the Russian Federation. The fine amounted to 115 million rubles, it was imposed by the court district of the magistrate No. 422, reports TASS.
This is the first time that a penalty of 1/10 of the company’s income has been imposed for this offense. According to the case materials, Roskomnadzor drew up a protocol regarding Zoom on September 23. It is alleged that from February 1, 2021 to August 2023, Zoom is used by more than 400 thousand users in the Russian Federation per day.
In the summer of 2022, Zoom was fined 1 million rubles. for violating the law on localization of personal data. Last week Zoom appointed another fine of 15 million rubles. for repeated refusal to localize the data of Russian users on the territory of the Russian Federation.
